DESCRIPTION:Thursday March 2nd\, 2023 \n10:00 AM – 1:00 PM ET \nOnline Training \nTraining Fee: $300 per person \n*We do not offer scholarships for our trainings\, but do offer discounts on a case-by-case basis.  If this fee presents a challenge\, please email us at best@hria.org. \nPlease note: We are capping this training at 35 people\, and ask that you please send NO MORE THAN THREE staff per organization to this training.\n\nThis 9-hour training over three separate sessions will offer core supervision principles to new managers who manage youth programs. The training will include an overview of the youth development approach\, key roles and responsibilities of a supervisor\, a framework for situational leadership\, tools for managing conflict\, and communication skills. In addition\, the training will support supervisors and managers of all levels to supervise across difference. We will lead with an exploration of supervising across race\, but other differences such as ability\, age\, class\, education may be explored as well. Participants will explore their own aspects of identity\, how they relate to power and privilege\, and will apply these insights to supervision tools like active listening and power-sharing. We will also discuss how racism and other “isms” get in the way of being supportive and effective supervisors. Case studies will be used to explore common challenges faced in supervising across difference. \n\n\nTraining Objectives:\n\nParticipants will be able to:\n\nIdentify appropriate supervisory approaches for different leadership situations\nExamine their personal power style and appreciate how power impacts supervision\nExplore their own identities and how it impacts the supervisee’s’ identity and supervisory relationship\nGain tools for shared power\nBuild skills to address difficult supervision situations\n\nTo view a PDF version of the flyer\, please click here.\n\nThis training is full.
